A lot of people like to drink alcohol. As long as you keep it down to a dull roar, it’s not an issue. However, are the calories worth it? I it worth how you feel in the morning? For me, the answer is no. I have pretty much stopped drinking all together. If my brother wants to share a good scotch or my mom wants to share some wine, I won’t say no. But those instances are few and far between. I still like the alcohol, but I don’t want to sacrifice my health and well-being for it. How do I deal with wanting that drink at the end of the night? Zero proof.
Not all zero proof are created equal. They also don’t drink like a real whiskey or wine. I treat them differently than I do real alcohol. The spirits are better mixed than straight. If I have a scotch, I just drink the scotch, no ice, no nothing. A common drink I make with zero proof is with Ritual Zero Proof Whiskey, sugar free pomegranate syrup, and diet cranberry soda. It tastes like a good mixed drink, not something else. I find those that add a bit of capsaicin to mimic the bite of alcohol are the best.
Now, I don’t like the zero proof wine and beer. I can’t drink beer anyway, but the wine is not good. If I’m going to drink wine, I’m going for the real deal. I drink dry as opposed to sweet. Less sugar and calories. Again, that’s a treat.
I would never say to someone that they should quit drinking alcohol. If it works for you and you can drink in moderation, that’s great. If you can’t or want to cut back, find a zero proof that works for you. I love it and recommend it for anyone who wants to cut back.
Yet to try any zero proof
