Tony and I just took a short vacation up to Marquette, Michigan. It’s located on the north central part of the Upper Peninsula on Lake Superior.
One of the things we didn’t do was sit around and skip out on physical activity. We did not do official workouts, but we did get out and hike. It’s easy to go on vacation and just sit on the beach all day or read books. We’re not saying those are bad things to do, but if you are working towards losing the weight you want or maintaining what you have, you want to get out and be active. That doesn’t mean running or hitting the gym. We took advantage of the large array of hiking trails and spent several hours hiking and taking pictures. It didn’t feel like a workout, it was having fun. After our hikes, we would watch a movie and relax. The key is building in some physical activity and relaxation. This also includes eating healthy while you are out. We did not allow our diets to veer off normal healthy eating. We had a treat or two, but did not eat out. In the next post Kerry will show you how she created a healthy salad using only convenience foods.
We had a blast on our active vacation! Hopefully this inspires you to do the same.
